FAQ.
What is it?
The Mamalogues is a staged reading presenting original works written and read by the author.
What are the readings about?
Anything you want it to be. Most of the stories are humorous, but some are not. All we ask is that the story is truthful, and from the heart.
Who can participate in the Mamalogues?
Any woman. The term "mama" is a general reference to women. You don't need to be a mother to be in the show. No previous theater experience is needed. Most of our best presenters come from women who have never written or been on stage before.
How do I submit?
When the announcement is made that we are accepting submissions, please email your original piece in a word document to realmamalogues@gmail.com
It should be between 5-10 minutes when read out loud. We love fresh and somewhat taboo topics.
Does everyone who submits get to be in the show?
Unfortunately, no. The readings need to come together to create an experience. Sometimes subject matter doesn't fit with the show as a whole. That doesn't mean we don't like the story. And we encourage you to submit again the following year.
Where do the proceeds go?
Each year we choose a charity to receive a portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales. Overall we have donated over $10,000 to local charities, including the YWCA, Angel of Hope, JWAS foundation, 525 Foundation, Dining for Women and Polite Tumor.
Is there a video of the show?
No, and this is intentional. The purpose of the show is to experience theatrical spoken word in an intimate setting. It is a unique experience and you just have to be there.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to email us at realmamalogues@gmail.com. And remember to follow The Mamalogues Facebook page for the latest news and information.
How do I get tickets?
Tickets sell out very quickly. Last year 350 tickets were sold in just under 1 minute. A link and time of the ticket sale will be posted on our Facebook page.
